Kajal Chhaganlal

Aged 28. Single.

Kajal was born in Beira, where her father is a shopkeeper, but went to Malawi for her Secondary Education. At that time standards in Beira were low and living conditions difficult as the Civil War had only just ended.

She had planned to go to England for University education but as things had improved in Beira she returned there from Malawi. She was delighted when the opportunity of medical training in Beira became available. She hopes to specialise in cardiology/paediatrics and will want to work in Beira for some time. Her course, she feels, has inspired her to continue to live and work in Africa.

She graduated in 2007 with the Gold medal and is now working in the Paediatric Department at the Central Hospital.
